Smilow Center Receives Award of Merit

Preservation Connecticut’s mission is to preserve, protect and promote the buildings, sites and landscapes that contribute to the heritage and vitality of Connecticut communities. Every year they recognize outstanding achievements in protecting and nourishing Connecticut’s significant buildings, landscapes and communities with their Merit Awards. Smilow Center- Norwalk received this award as a result of the hard work, efforts made, investment, and re-use and recycling of the former lace mill building in Norwalk. PAC Group is proud to have been part of the project team that brought new life to the once-abandoned building. It is now The Open Door Shelter; a facility that provides emergency shelter, food, clothing, case management services, job training, a community health center, and supportive housing. The transformation and preservation deserves to be celebrated.
